We are working hard to improve attendance across the school, particularly for those children who have attendance rates below 90%. We implemented our new policy from September 2022 which aligns with the Local Authority Attendance procedures. We do not want to refer families for fixed penalty notices and will do everything we can to help you improve your child's attendance. We know that sometimes circumstances mean that children who are usually good attenders at school are unable to come in and we will be sensitive to this when making decisions about whether to refer to the Local Authority. We will also take into account where offers of support form other agencies has been accepted in line with our policy.

Attendance at school each day the school is open is a legal requirement and just one absence can mean that your child misses out on a key aspect of their learning. We understand that there will be some occasions when children are very unwell and unable to attend school but this should be very rare. Although absences for medical reasons or illness are usually authorised absences, they still count towards your child's overall attendance figure. Similarly, when children are late after the register closes (9.20am) they are recorded as being absent for first registration and will lose the mark for this session. Punctuality is therefore also very important.

We would urge you to contact school if you are having difficulty bringing children in to school when they are well enough to attend and where possible we will collect children from home.
